I painted all the black acrylic applied with a cut credit card than added wax crayon to the building and trees and finally painted acrylic washes over the entire piece. I really enjoyed putting in the iron fence line work with the edge of a cut credit card.
I drew this in crayon from my vehicle parked in East Berlin, PA. Adding the paint was fun and the sky turned out great. Love the texture.
Made this in the studio, since I don't paint to well under the sea.
Love the smooth watercolor or acrylic paints flowing over and being resisted by the wax crayon line work. I even put white crayon in the sky for texture as a resist.
I normally start with the crayon work and get all the wax crayon in place before my paint is applied over top. Sometimes more crayon is added after the paint dries to strengthen the color.
A contrasting final layer of watercolor or acrylic are added at the end to reveal wonderful surprises.
